>>000000084 It seems to be. This was the first Halloween I’d really celebrated since moving across the country. I heard some neighborhoods were packed, but I didn’t see that. I ended up going over to a friends house and passing out candy to maybe half a dozen kids over the course of two hours before we called it. I tell you what, these teenagers don’t even say “trick or treat” anymore. At the very least, they said thanks. Back home, there haven’t been any trick or treaters in a couple of years. It’s wild - the neighborhood used to be absolutely bumping until 10:30 or 11:00 at night. Now it’s nothing. I wonder where everyone went? I guess kids have trunk-or-treat and teenagers have Halloween parties.

>>000000085 >the neighborhood used to be absolutely bumping until 10:30 or 11:00 at night That's what I remember it being like as a kid too. Almost thought I had hallucinated all of it. >Now it’s nothing. I wonder where everyone went? I want to blame TikTok but it's been happening since way before that. Was it social media?

>>000000086 I’m not sure. I feel like the social media generation would be the ones wanting to trick or treat? It wasn’t long ago I saw a post from some teenager longing to have gone to high school from 2015-2019. Maybe the younger kids have these trunk-or-treat events and the older kids have parties these days. Covid probably had something to do with it, too. I know some neighborhoods still get a lot of traffic, so it’s not completely dead. I hope it doesn’t end up that way.
